Journeys' vision and mission

Journeys’ Vision

We want to be in a world without any stigma or discrimination towards those suffering from depression, that instead offers the best treatments and services available. We want to see minds healed.

Journeys’ Mission

Our mission is to empower, equip, and encourage people to move from depression through recovery.

·         Equip. Promoting and facilitating research, services, and treatment
·         Empower. Advocating at both the local and governmental level for our clients' rights
·         Encourage. Providing direct support to clients and families

There is no magic bullet for reducing the costs, to both individuals and society, of depression and related mental illness. In order to be successful in reducing the emotional suffering and fiscal burdens we must be able to identify the transitory needs of service users and stakeholders, whether they are people suffering from depression, families and friends, funders, volunteers, private sector business, public sector bodies, or voluntary organisations. We must have the resources and infrastructure to respond effectively to these needs. This is not a small task, but we are keen to meet it and have developed the following organisational goals to guide our mission:

Recognise the Need
The quality of our programmes and services will be in direct proportion to the quality of our understanding of the problem we are trying to solve. Before jumping into a new programme or service offering, we must ensure that we are focused on the right challenge. We should always step back and invest time and effort to improve our understanding of the need. In doing so, our solutions will be more abundant, of high quality and successful.

Serve the Person
A person drowning under the weight of hopelessness and fear, a parent scared for their child, a partner at the end of their rope, an overburdened unappreciated grant manager – we serve many types of people, but we are always serving a person. The best solution to any of the problems and challenges we face must always seek to provide for the needs of this person.
