Journeys courses
I wish I had known this stuff four years ago – my life would have been very different!
Learning about depression is the most important thing you can do to promote recovery. Whether you are directly affected by depression, or are a friend, relative or loved one, or even a manager or employer, learning about depression is the most effective thing you can do.
You could try to learn informally, for example, by searching the Internet for information and articles about depression. But this takes time – and how do you know which information to trust? For every not-for-profit site like this one or every reliable public health site such as NHS direct, there are two or three commercial sites offering simplistic explanations of depression in order to sell a plethora of dubious remedies.
Alternatively, you could access more formal learning about depression. This is where Journeys’ training courses are invaluable. Journeys offers two award-winning training courses – Depression Busting™ and Mental Health First Aid – together with several short courses dealing with different aspects of depression. In addition, Journeys can work with organisations to provide bespoke courses.

One of our staff members attended a course with you recently which she found was really helpful – and hasn’t stopped enthusing about it! Please could you send me more information and costs etc. (Learning Quality Officer – Cardiff)
The patient I referred to the course found it extremely valuable. She has gained a lot of useful ideas about managing her long-term depressive illness. I would definitely recommend it to other patients (Dr Ian Hughes, Head of Adult Psychology, Cardiff & Vale Mental Health Trust)
