Volunteer
Volunteers play a vital role in Journeys' work.
If you would like to give some time to help Journeys to help people affected by depression, there are several ways in which you could do so:
Help at the office
We are always looking for help at the office in Cardiff. This ranges from stuffing envelopes to answering the phone, from helping out at events to supporting our projects.
Be a group facilitator
We want to expand our network of self-help groups throughout Wales, so they are available when they’re needed. We rely on volunteers, fully supported by Journeys' staff team, to help us do this.
Talk about us
Journeys needs help to raise our profile. We know that there are many people out there who would benefit from the resources and support that we provide but first we need to let them know that we are here. Tell your friends, employer, colleagues, family, your GP; tell everyone! You could help us further by distributing posters and leaflets locally.
Project work
From time to time as we develop new services and begin new projects we have other exciting volunteering opportunities too. In the past this has included being a part of a think tank to inform service development, and the production of our CD-Rom.
Speaking out
We always need people who are willing to share their story. If you feel able to talk about your experiences we’d love to know.
Join our Board of Trustees
Journeys is looking to expand the Board of Trustees. Do you think you can help? We are looking for committed, dynamic and innovative individuals who can bring a range of skills and expertise to the organisation.
If you’re interested in any of these opportunities please contact us for more information.
Fundraise
Fundraising for Journeys not only helps us by providing vital funds, it also helps to raise awareness about depression. There are lots of things you could do. Here are some suggestions:
- You could get sponsored to do something silly or out of the ordinary, like a sporting activity, a 24 hour silence or a haircut.
- You could hold an event – a raffle, coffee morning, or BBQ.
- You could do something at work, like a treasure hunt, a dress down day or a cake stall.
- You could auction something on Ebay for charity
If you are planning to fundraise for Journeys, let us know and we’ll help in anyway that we can.
