There is growing interest in the role of diet in depression. It is clear that an unhealthy diet can make depression worse. There is also some evidence that certain "good mood foods" (when eaten as part of a balanced diet) can help you toward recovery from depression.
This leaflet introduces the ways in which depression and diet interact, and sets out some of the self-help approaches you can adopt in order to improve your diet, and ultimately your depression.
